一間大學社會學系在美國一個貧民區作了個對青少年未來發展評估，在200個受評估的青少年，所得出的結果都是一樣-他們長大後將會是一無是處，將會成為社會的負擔。

20年後這份報告放在大學的一個角落，偶然給一個教授發現，他很有興趣知道有關200個青年長大後現況。便四出尋找，在200個人中，其中20個因為過世或失去聯絡，而找到180個，奇怪是其中172個青年竟然成為當時最出名的醫生、律師或商人，其中不乏社會精英。

他很想知道究竟在他們成長過程中發生了什麼事令到結果有這麼大的出入,於是便親自一一探訪,結果所得出的答案都是一樣,”在我們成長時遇到一位好老師”

教授很有興趣想知道這位老師用什麼方法改變他們;而這位老師當時還在世,住在一條小村落,教授見到老師是一位老婆婆,便問她是用什麼方法令到一郡本應一無是處的青年有這麼大的改變,這位老婆婆和藹的笑了笑,簡單的答了兩句說話“也沒什麼,我只是真心愛他們”
